Alcona County National Audubon Christmas Bird Count

The Alcona County bird count was established in 2009. The center of the count circle is Sturgeon Point. The east boundary is 7 1/2 miles out over the Lake Huron waters. The west boundary is McGregor Road. The north boundary is Black River, and the south boundary is Springport. 

CALENDAR 

The next Alcona County Christmas Bird Count will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022. All reports from participants will be from the eBird.org. The results will be posted here. My count will also be included as I am the Complier for Alcona County. Please join us for a good day of birding! Frank Apsey, complier since 2009.

TAWAS POINT BIRD FESTIVAL.

May 13th to May 15th, 2022.
​The Tawas Point Bird Festival was a great sucess with 80+ participants observing 153 bird species at the point, and another 16 bird species added at other areas of the count for a total of 169 bird species with 12,411+ individual birds. Thanks to everybody for coming out to enjoy the wonders of nature.

INDEPENDENCE DAY BIRD COUNT (IDBC).
JOIN ME FOR THE 2nd ANNUAL ALCONA COUNTY IDBC. THIS ONE DAY COUNT ON JULY 4TH CAN BE AT ONE OR MORE LOCATIONS IN THE COUNTY. JUST COUNT THE SPECIES AND REPORT THE BIRDS TO eBird.org. YOU CAN COUNT ALL DAY OR JUST A FEW MINUTES AT EACH LOCATION. BIRD FEEDERS CAN ALSO BE COUNTED ALONG WITH FLYOVERS. THIS COUNT WOULD BE GOOD IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD! PERHAPS THIS WILL BECOME A NATIONAL COUNT. I WILL ALSO INCLUDE PHOTOGRAPHS. PLEASE TAP ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE.
